Dahlia: 10 Varieties For You To Know This Autumn Season
Happy Thursday!
Today we are diving into Dahlia: 10 Varieties For You To Know This Season
Nothing says Autumn Bloom to me more than the delectable Dahlia. I love it for its geometric forms, its range of colours and abundance of shapes. It is a highlight of Fall season design and in today's Flower Class Preview, we're sharing a full tutorial from our Flower Class membership showcasing ten of my favourite Dahlia varieties AND how to use them in design work.
Getting to know the nuances of a bloom’s many varieties is something that i’ve learned from experience over many years - i’m hoping to save you some of that time with this tutorial! The name Dahlia on its own, whist it sparks in me Autumnal joy, doesn’t indicate to us everything that we need to know in order to select the right bloom for the job. We have Waterlilly, Ball and Dinner-plate forms. Colour tones from palest white through to deepest black, and head sizes from one inch to ten. Oh no, a client telling me they love Dahlia’s is not enough, so let’s take a closer look as I introduce you to ten of my favourites.
In this tutorial we’ll be covering:
Different varieties by name
My top choices for focal blooms
Which varieties work great for wearables

Which travel well AND which not so well
